I recently wrote how much the Getting Things Done (GTD) method was integral to my ability to make media. I also mentioned that I utilized web tools that have helped me implement the GTD method. My first tool of choice was Toodledo, and while I still think Toodledo is a very good tool, I've recently switched tools and I'd like to tell you 3 reasons why iLove Nozbe.
1. Better Implementation of GTD
There are two main reasons why iLove Nozbe better than Toodledo. The first is the web interface of Nozbe. The interface is simple, clean, and very customizable. Nozbe let's you view your data in a number of different ways. When you first login you are presented with a “Next Actions” list that is created by you. From this screen you can view your items by project, date, or context. I also like the way Nozbe utilizes a three column design that keeps a ton of data on one screen. My favorite view is the “This Week” view which allows me see what I need to complete today and when those items are finished, allows me to work ahead in the week.
I also prefer the screen when you add a new task. After you title the task there are a number of different options which let you utilize the GTD method.
2. evernote Integration
The other main reason which I switched to Nozbe was their integration with Evernote, another application that iLove. Evernote has become the center of my digital life and it was very important that my online tool for GTD integrated with it. Nozbe allows me to keep information in Evernote and “connect” it with a task or project in Nozbe – iLove that!
3. Nozbe iPhone App
A prerequisite for an iLove web application is a complimentary iPhone App. Nozbe‘s iPhone App is first-rate. The iPhone App shares the same great interface as the online version and allows you to access your tasks by project, date, or context. I use the App so frequently that I have made it one of the four main Apps on my home screen.
There are actually many other reasons why iLove Nozbe and they all collectively helped me make the switch from Toodledo. While I feel that Toodledo is still a great tool, I felt that Nozbe was worth the switch because of the reasons above.
You'll also notice that I didn't mention that Nozbe was free. While they do offer a free account with limited projects and supported by ads, which is where I started, I've since upgraded to the Personal account and haven't looked back.
