One of the most difficult activities when running a blog is coming up with blog post topics for your school. While I’ve written about blog topics in the past:

- How to Think About Blog Topics For Your School
While I still believe that these blog post topic suggestions will help you I wanted to share a trick that I use to determine blog post topics for your school using your own Google Analytics data.
Step 1: Log into Google Analytics and Change Date Range
You’ll need access to your school’s Google Analytics account. Once you have access log in and I suggest you change the date range to a longer time period. I typically use the prior year-to-date.

Step 2: Navigate to the Organic Search Section of Traffic Sources
The next step is that you'll need to navigate to TRAFFIC SOURCES > SOURCES > SEARCH > ORGANIC.
Step 3: Search
The next step is to find the search box and enter terms which will search the terms that people used to find your website. The idea is to search using the terms who, how, where, what, and why and see what drove people to your site.
Step 4: Determine a Blog Post Topic
Using the results of the search you can then write a blog post answering the questions that will be returned from the search. I would also suggest searching for terms which you want to be found for like a special program, i.e. global studies, ceramics, or dyslexia.
Final Thoughts
I typically like to use this technique about once a month and have found it a great way to find topics that my audience is interested in reading about.
Question: Do you have any suggestions or techniques that you use to find blog topics for your school?
