EvernoteiLove technology, iLove Evernote, but iLove being organized even more! Recently I wrote about my passion for being organized and a tool that I use for to-do's called, Toodledo, which helps me implement the Getting Things Done (GTD) system online. Today, I'd like to talk about another tool that I've been using for many months and the 7 Reassons Why iLove Evernote.

1. Great To-Do Support Tool

One of the premises of the GTD system is to create some sort of “inbox” which collects all of your commitments and then allows to focus clearly to make choices of what to do or not to do. While I currently keep my to-do's in Toodledo, I keep all of my support documents and other information in Evernote. As a result, Toodledo and evernote are a great companion to each other.  The only issue I have is that Toodledo and evernote currently do not integrate. I hope that will change in the near future.

2. Capture Anything

Evernote's tagline is “Remember Everything. Capture Anything. Access Anywhere. Find Things Fast.” It's refreshing to see a tool that actually delivers on it's promise, specifically in regard to “Capture Anything.” When they say capture anything they mean it. You can store text, images, voice, sound, emails, tweets, anything. I'm serious. I hope you'll give Evernote a try just to test this feature.

3. Organize and Search

In my opinion, storing anything is worthless unless you can find it fast. evernote lets you store, organize, and search for your information in the way that you decide. You can create notebooks and use tags to help with your organizational system and then search by notebook, tag, or attribute to help you find your information. Put it this way, I can say that I have yet to loose anything in evernote.

4. Cross Platform

evernote does this so well! They sync your documents across all of their platforms. They offer applications for Windows and OS X. They also offer apps for the iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, Android, PalmOS, and Windows Mobile. You can also access your information over the web. They only problem with this feature is that you can never say your dog ate your homework anymore because there will always be a copy in the cloud.

5. iPhone App

A prerequisite for iLove is that the tool must have an iPhone App. evernote has a fantastic free App that is quick, stable, and synchronizes your information quickly. You can upload text, pictures, and voice messages. The App also lets you access your folders and denote favorites for quick access.

6. Multiple Input Methods

As a result of it's cross-platform brilliance, evernote allows you to input information in a number of different ways. You can use any of the applications mentioned in #4 or use the iPhone App to upload your information. evernote also let's you email information, including attachments, directly into your account and enter them into the notebook and assign tags that you select. evernote also lets you send information from your Twitter account directly into evernote.

7. Free

Finally, Evernote is free! They do offer a very reasonable premium account but you can access all of the very best basic features using the free account.

I could go on and on with how much iLove Evernote but I hope you'll take the time to check it out. If you're already a user of Evernote I would love to hear about your favorite features using the comments section below.
